KUCHING: A woman from Sarawak, who was stranded in Sungai Petani, Kedah due to the movement control order (MCO), has claimed to be the victim of an online cake (kek lapis) ordering fraud.
Zaliha Hassan, a Mirian, has been stranded in Sungai Petani, Kedah since the implementation of the MCO when she went there to visit her grandchildren.
According to Zaliha, after she saw the online sale of kek lapis on Facebook, she placed her order and paid for the prices through online banking.
She waited for her order after paying RM92.80 including postal charges for two types of kek lapis and one cake roll to a company based in Kuala Lumpur.
Zaliha said 10 days after placing her order, she whatsApped the owner of the company but was told that the cakes had been posted to her on April 29.
“Ten days after that, I texted him again, asking for the latest status of the kek lapis and cake roll. I told him the other items we ordered from Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kota Bharu and other places had all arrived.
“He said it might be due to postal and freight issues … bla bla bla,” said Zaliha.
She said she repeatedly asked the owner of the company to forward the tracking number but he was silent and yesterday, he blocked her number and couldn’t be contacted.
Believing that there were also other customers being cheated by the same person, she advised the public not to fall victims to the fraud.
Zaliha said she would lodge a police report on the case soon.
