Then apply for SDMC permission via online

KUCHING: Effective today, all Malaysians, including Sarawakians, who wish to enter Sarawak, must first get a permit from the police before getting the permission from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said without the permit from police, SDMC would not allow anyone to enter Sarawak.

“This requirement is in line with the directive issued by the federal government regarding the movement restriction between states,” he said during the daily Covid-19 press conference at the old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building yesterday.

Travellers can obtain the police permit from the nearest police station in the town or city of departure.

Uggah, who is also the SDMC chairman, added that the permission from SDMC could be made at http://sdmc.sarawak.gov.my.

On another note, he said churches in the state had informed the committee that they would continue with their church services online through live steaming via Facebook and YouTube.

“For the other religions, they have also informed us that they will continue with the practice they had done. So far they have not changed their standard operating procedure (SOP),” he said.

He said in the meantime, Unit for Other Religions together with the head of other religions are still drafting the SOP for houses of worship to comply with after the end of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) period or after the approval of the government to reopen.
