BINTULU: The Bintulu Welfare Department (JKM) has identified 21 schools with students with special needs for the distribution of food aid.

Bintulu welfare officer Taddy Ajin said the food aid — which consists rice, oil, sugar, biscuits, canned food, Milo, and more — is an initiative by the department to assist those with special needs and to lessen their burden.

“Earlier on, we distributed 96 packets of food aid to students with special needs at SMK Kidurong,” he said during the presentation of food aid to 66 students with special needs at SK Assyakirin here, today.

The food aid was received by the school’s special education senior assistant Kong Kie Soon.

At the same time, Taddy encouraged the public to come forward to contribute to the department so they can further assist people with disabilities (OKU).

He also thanked corporations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and individuals for providing assistance to support their efforts and initiatives.
