KUCHING: Teachers who are currently outside Sarawak can apply for assistance to facilitate their return to their stations in the state.
State Education Department director, Dr Azhar Ahmad, said his department had discussed the matter with Deputy Chief Minister cum chairman of the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and State Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong.
“The discussion was on ways to help as the Ministry of Education had issued a directive dated June 4, 2020 to teachers to return to their workplaces.
“In this regard, the department has been advised to liaise with Sarawak Volunteers (SV) which has previously successfully assisted nearly 10,000 graduates to return to Sarawak and Malaya.
“An agreement has been reached between the department and SV to help teachers outside Sarawak to return to their stations,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He said the teachers can apply for help by filling in a form online at https://bit.ly/3cwgQ2F. They must give their information for the purpose getting a return flight to Sarawak.
“Therefore, I request the cooperation of all District Education Offices, principals and headmasters to convey information to their teachers who are outside Sarawak and are having trouble getting their tickets to Sarawak,” he said.
