KUCHING: A four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle caught fire near an eatery along Jalan Ong Guan Cheng in Bau last Tuesday evening.
It was understood that the owner of the 4WD known only as Liew was travelling along the road when he spotted smoke billowing from the engine compartment around 5.55pm. He immediately stopped the vehicle by the roadside and got out of it before alerting the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
Eight firefighters in a fire engine and EMRS vehicle from Bau fire station were dispatched to the scene upon receiving an emergency call on the incident at 6.00pm.
They managed to put out the flames within 10 minutes after arrival. The actual cause of the incident has yet to be ascertained.
