SIBU: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will conduct periodic monitoring of all lottery premises here to ensure public compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the recovery movement control order (RMCO).
Sibu district deputy police chief Supt Collin Babat said the monitoring would be conducted three times a day — in the morning, noon and peak hours around 5pm — on the day of the draw.
He was speaking to reporters after monitoring public compliance with the SOPs at a lottery premises here last Saturday.
Lottery premises in the state were allowed to operate again last Saturday after being closed for the past three months since the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) on March 18.
“Among the SOPs are complying with the social distancing rule, registering names, taking body temperature and washing hands using hand sanitisers before customers are allowed to enter the premises,” added Collin.
He said operators of the premises should be responsible for ensuring that all customers complied with the SOPs.
“Failure to do so will result in the closure of the premises. Any customer who fails to comply with the SOPs will be fined RM1,000.”
He said the PDRM forces would be assisted by the army, civilian defence force, People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel and local authorities in the operation.
Also present was Sibu District Police’s Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division, DSP Ariffin Bahar.
