SIBU: 26 people from Sibu and three from Kapit received offer letters for ‘Rumah Mesra Rakyat Individual Scheme’ programme yesterday.
One of them Mayzatul Ismam Yahaya, 36, told reporters at the presentation of the offer letter for ‘Rumah Mesra Rakyat Individual Scheme’ programme for Sibu and Kapit at Nangka Constituency Service Centre here yesterday, that she was very happy because she able to build a house on her own land.
“Therefore, I would like to thank the government for implementing such a programme. For the middle income people like us, it is very beneficial,” she said.
According to Mayzatul, the land that she wants to build a house under the programme is in Seduan.
“Currently, I live with my parents in Teku,” she added.
Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Sarawak, Ali Omar Su’ut said there are two types of ‘Rumah Mesra Rakyat’ (RMR), namely individual scheme and village extension scheme.
For those applying for the projects, he said the applicants must have their own land and land titles and they must apply to National Housing Corporation (SPNB).
“So far, Sibu has yet to have RMR project for individual scheme and village extension scheme.”
“The RMR for individual scheme is still in the proposal stage and if approved it will be the first RMR project in Sibu,” he said, adding that Kapit already have RMR for individual scheme.
If this proposal for the individual scheme could be implemented, he said that it would become the first RMR project in Sibu.
