KUCHING: The requests by teachers and students of SMK Agama Sheikh Haji Othman Abdul Wahab (SHOAW) for a covered walkway and expansion of existing mosque will be considered by the Minister of Works Datuk Seri Haji Fadillah Yusof.

This was revealed by Fadillah at a gathering with teachers, parents and students of the school at Jalan Matang here, last Saturday.

He said he would consider the requests on condition that the school must demonstrate outstanding performance, not only in academics but also in terms of personality (good religious knowledge).

“In order to tackle problems modern era, students should equip themselves with skills and strong religious foundation.

“This is to prepare students to face the challenges of geopolitics where, foreign countries today put pressure on Middle East countries,” he explained.

Fadillah said students should know about the opportunity and space that they could grab for their future, for example in terms of education, career, economics and so on.
