KUCHING: The state’s Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Ministry have disbursed a total of RM14.05 million to 2,932 registered tadika operators in Sarawak.
Its minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the special annual grant was to subsidise the tadika operator’s operation cost and purchase of hygiene equipment for their premises in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP).
“As of June 26, a total of 2,932 (95 percent) of registered tadika have applied for the special annual grant from the state government,” she told reporters during an official visit to Tadika Centurion in Jalan Stutong here on Thursday.
Fatimah said her ministry would continue to conduct inspection at all kindergartens on their compliance with the SOP.
“Based on my observation, all kindergartens in Sarawak are complying with the SOP set by the state government.
“We will continue to monitor and inspect all childcare centres and tadika,” she added.
She also assured parents that the teachers and staffs were committed in providing safe and healthy environment for their children.
“¬¬I understand parent’s concern for their children — wondering if they can practise social distancing when they meet friends in class.
“But I believe that our teachers and the staffs are working hard to ensure the premises are safe for the children.
“And if let say there are some showing symptoms, I believe that the teachers are able to handle as preventive measures are in place,” she said.
On children’s attendance issue, Fatimah said it was not a big issue if the parents did not send their children to tadika.
“We noted that children’s attendance rate for both taska and tadika are about 60 percent. For us, this is not a big issue because we understand their concern,” she said.
