KUCHING: An elderly woman sought help from the police to detain her daughter who attempted to set fire to their house in Kampung Bintawa Tengah last Tuesday night.

A police team who responded to the 73-year-old woman’s distress call came around midnight to stop the woman’s daughter from causing further damage to the house.

The 40-year-old daughter who is believed to be mentally

unstable was said to have splashed her bedroom with petrol.

Upon seeing the police personnel, the daughter became aggressive and shouted profanity at them. When she resisted arrest, the men in blue were forced to tase her in their bid to subdue her.

She was later taken to the Sarawak General Hospital where she was warded for depression.
