SIBU: The body of a foreign man who had been reported missing has been found at Kampung Serban Batang Lassa, Daro.

Sibu deputy police chief DSP Supt Collin Babat said the deceased, identified as Pandey Saurev, 21, from India, was reported missing on Monday (July 20) after he fell off the vessel he was working on.

He added that the body was discovered by villagers who spotted it afloat nearby a jetty around 11am on Wednesday (July 22).

“The villagers then tied the legs of Pandey, for fear that his body would further adrift by the currents,” he said in a statement.

The body was later fished out of the water and taken to the Sibu Hospital mortuary.

The identity of the deceased was then confirmed by his colleague based on the clothes and wrist band found on the victim.

“No foul play was found on the victim’s body and he was believed to have drowned,” Collin added.
