BAU: A teenager is under police custody after he was arrested for drug abuse here.

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the 18-year-old was detained at 1.50pm on Tuesday by the roadside of Kampung Segubang here, after he was spotted acting suspiciously.

“A body check conducted on the suspect found a translucent plastic package containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu weighing 0.30g. 

“The employed teenager was tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and was remanded to facilitate investigation under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a statement.

Poge said that the suspect has no prior criminal record.

He added that Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a fine of RM100,000 and five years imprisonment for both if convicted.

While Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act carries a penalty of RM5,000 and imprisonment not more than two years and a supervision order of not less than two years and not more than three years.
