KUCHING: The “zero potholes” target only began for Sabah and Sarawak last month. Previously this target only applied to areas in West Malaysia, said Deputy Works Minister Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith.
“After the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government took over from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, then the target was set for Sabah and Sarawak,” he said in reply to a question by Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abd Wahab in Parliament yesterday.
He said the target for road maintenance in Sabah and Sarawak was different as there were separate agencies from the federal agencies.
Meanwhile, he agreed that many stretches of the road construction in Sarawak are involving lot of peat soil land condition.
“Nevertheless, efforts and studies are often done to ensure that the quality of these roads is equivalent to the target set,” said Eddin.
