Nine compounds issued to individuals for flouting SOP

KUCHING: Police have issued nine compounds to individuals for not wearing face masks in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said, police would continue to enforce standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance, including the use of face masks in public places.

“Limbang recorded the most compounds issued with three, followed by Miri (three), Samarahan (two) and Sarikei (one),” the statement read.

On the inter-zone travel restrictions in Simunjan and Sri Aman, police recorded a total of 1,268 vehicles that had passed between zones (1 and 2) from Aug 5 to 6.

Of the total, 1,190 of them had obtained travel permission while 78 had been ordered to turn back due to not having permission.

To date, 2,222 premises had been monitored throughout the state. They were restaurants (490), supermarkets (355), banks (146), places of worship (111), public markets (107), government offices (81), leisure places (59), hawker stalls (37), factories (nine), construction sites (29), and others (780).

SDMC also informed that 1,507 vehicles had been inspected in six ‘Ops Benteng’ roadblocks in five districts – Lundu (two), one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
