MUKAH: The Community Welfare Department, Mukah Division has distributed 1,709 Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) so far.

Mukah divisional officer Haslinda Supu said a total of 6,220 KGC had already been printed out of 6,977 applications.

She added that staff were currently sorting the remaining cards, which would be distributed within this week.

“When everything is ready, I will announce through Facebook and written notices placed at strategic locations informing about the collection details,” she said on Monday (Aug 10).

Haslinda added that she would also seek assistance from Senior Citizens Activity Centre (Pawe), Senior Citizens Service Centre (PPWE) as well as community leaders comprising ketua masyarakat and ketua kaum to help collect and distribute.

On the application of KGC, she explained that it could also be done online at https://kenyalanggold.com

She said for conventional application, the divisional office would fix a specific time frame to enable office in other districts to submit the forms, which would then be forwarded to Kuching collectively.

Senior citizens aged 60 years old and above with MyKad bearing “K”, are eligible to apply for the KGC, the initiative of the Sarawak government through the Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development.

The card provides discounts or rebates on everyday essentials, from groceries, healthcare to transportation offered by strategic partners of the ministry.
