KUCHING: Sarawak Skills, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) for the year 2020, has distributed 334 boxes of face masks to its 25 adopted schools around Kuching, Samarahan and Padawan.
The donation, handed over by Sarawak Skills executive director Hallman Sabri, was held yesterday at SMK Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor (DPHA Gapor).
According to Hallman, the initiative of the programme was to provide an advantage to the schools under the auspices of the “Sekolah Angkat” (adopted school) programme.
“This is one of the advantages found in the Sekolah Angkat programme apart from providing incentives to excellent students, holding TVET and STEM talk programme and others.
“It is hoped that this contribution, to some extent, can help the school in providing face masks to teachers, school staff and students in the practice of the new norm in compliance with the standard operating procedure while combating the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
The Sekolah Angkat was represented by SMK DPHA Gapor principal Affandi Rosli in receiving the contributions from Sarawak Skills.
Apart from that, eight ‘stand sanitisers’ were also given to SMK DPHA Gapor and SMK Sungai Tapang, two schools that have sent the most students to the Sarawak Skills group institutions.
Among the schools involved are SMK Kota Samarahan, SMK Muara Tuang, SMK Padungan, SMK Siburan, SMK Wira Penrissen, SMK Bako, SMK Santubong, SMK Jalan Arang, SMK Batu Kawa, SMK Semerah Padi, SMK Pending, SMK Sg Maong, SMK Matang Jaya, and others.
