KUCHING: Twelve primary schools in Batu Kawa Constituency received thermo-scanners in preparation for the reopening of schools tomorrow (Aug 17).
The thermo-scanners were presented by Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
He also handed over financial grants, hand sanitisers and face masks to the managements of the respective schools.
The schools were SK Rantau Panjang, SRB Sungai Moyan, SJK Chung Hua Sejijak, SJK Chung Hua Stapok, SJK Chung Hua Rantau Panjang, SJK Chung Hua Syn San Tu, SJK Chung Hua Batu Kawa, SJK Chung Hua Sg Tapang Kuching, SJK Chung Hua Sg Tapang Ulu, SJK Chung Hua Kim Choo Seng, SK Stapok and SK RPR Batu Kawa.
Meanwhile, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth Central secretary-general Milton Foo together with Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng inspected the disinfection process carried out at Chung Hua Middle School No.1 on Sunday (Aug 16).
Wee praised the school for making sure all the standard operating procedures (SOP) were in place for the safety of the teachers and students.
Also present was chairman of Board of Management Committee for Kuching Chung Hua Middle School (CHMS) No.1, 3 and 4 Datuk Richard Wee.
The resumption of Transition Classes, Form 1 to Form 4 and Lower 6 classes and Primary One to Six in Kuching, Padawan and Samarahan districts was first postponed from July 15 to Aug 3 due to the increased Covid-19 cases during the second week of July.
The reopening of schools in the three districts was again further postponed from Aug 3 to Aug 16 due to an increase in the Covid-19 cases in late July.
However, preschool, Form Five and Upper Form Six classes continued as usual.
