MIRI: Two locals were arrested by police for allegedly robbing a man in front of a grocery store at Batu Niah town last Thursday.

District police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah told that the incident occurred around 2.25pm when the victim was approached by three men on two motorcycles.

“One of them then hit the victim in the neck and head, picked the victim’s pocket and fled with RM480 belonging to the victim.

“The victim managed to identify the licence plates of both motorcycles and proceeded to lodge a police report,” he said in a statement.

Following the police report, a team of Miri Crime Investigation Division (CID) managed to track down and arrested two of the three men involved.

It is understood that the third man who is an Indonesian, is still at large.

Lim added that the arrested individuals along with the seized items such as cash and a motorcycle allegedly used to conduct the crime were taken to Miri police station for further action and investigation.

Both men were detained under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang-robbery.
