SELANGAU: A double-storey house near the Public Work Department (JKR) workers’ quarters at Jalan Selangau was razed to the ground today (Aug 28) affecting 23 tenants.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, a distress call pertaining to the fire was received at 11.53am.

A team of firemen from Selangau Fire Station that was deployed to the scene found that the 40×60-foot rental house was already destroyed when they arrived.

Though the fire allegedly affected 23 tenants, no casualty was reported in the incident.

The fire was successfully controlled and extinguished by the team around 12.04pm and overhaul works were being carried out to ensure that the situation was deemed safe.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
