KUCHING: In a display of love and patriotism for the country, villagers of Kampung No. 6 Patingan Satok decked the village with Jalur Gemilang and Sarawak flag to commemorate the month-long National day celebrations.
Organised by its Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), a total of 300 flags and 300 fishtails were distributed free to the residents to spread the patriotic spirit while enlivening the village.
Village chief Mostapha Wahab said they started preparations in earnest since mid-August.
“This will become our annual programme. As Malaysian citizens, we are proud because we are the first JKKK to initiate this effort in our area. We hope to see the Jalur Gemilang in every nook and corner of our village,” he said during the handing over of the Jalur Gemilang ceremony at Masjid Darulhana Kampung No.6 Patingan here on Saturday night.
The programme was organised in collaboration with Masjid Darulhana, Kampung Patingan Muslim Welfare Trust Board, Saberkas, and the village’s Neighbourhood Watch committee (KRT).
