KUCHING: Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis received a courtesy call from a delegation from the National Resilience College (NRC) 2020 of the National Centre for Defence Studies (NCDS) today.
The purpose of the visit was to understand how Sarawak achieved unity among its
various multicultural and multi-ethnic people.
“Since Sarawak is the model of unity in Malaysia, we feel that this will be a golden opportunity for our local senior military officers to learn how Sarawak (the state government) preserves unity among its diverse ethnic groups in the state.
“The core studies in NRC revolve around the concept of national power and national unity,” said NRC commandant Major General Datuk Md Yusof Aziz when met by reporters at the Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Ministry’s office here at Baitul Makmur building.
The aim of the visit, he added, was to conduct a research on the concept of national unity in Sabah and Sarawak.
“Based on the briefing session with the ministry, we now understand the approach and measures that the state government has taken to ensure the people are living in peace and harmony,” he said.
