KAPIT: A secretary of the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Edison Bugak at Nanga Melekun here, Jeffery Usa Dana has called on the state government to consider paying allowance to JKKK secretaries throughout the state as being implemented in Peninsular Malaysia.
He said the payment of the allowance could serve as a motivation for JKKK secretaries to carry out their work more effectively as most or about 90 per cent of the work of the JKKKs including correspondence and other tasks are done by the secretaries.
“This include drafting the village profile, correspondence, prepare working papers for development projects, prepare reports, attending meetings, civic assemblies and others,” Usa told the press yesterday morning.
He added that the payment of monthly allowance for JKKK chairman of RM900 and secretary of RM400 was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the 2017 Budget.
“However, here only the JKKK chairman or the ‘Tuai Rumah’ are given the allowance of RM900 by the state government. On behalf of JKKK secretaries in the state, I am hopeful that the state government could adopt the implementation of the allowance especially for the JKKK secretaries throughout the state to commensurate with work load they are faced with,” said Usa.
