MUKAH: The only housing estate Neigbourhood Watch Committee (KRT) in this division, KRT Taman King Sum and Hung Liong (KRT KSHL), celebrated Malaysia Day by holding three activities last weekend.
The main activity was called `Gotong-Royong Merdeka 2017’ which was followed by two others, namely a health talk on dengue and a ‘Malaysia Day’ barbeque in the evening.
The event themed `Negaraku Sehati Sejiwa-Sihat dan Bersih’ kicked-off with fogging around house compounds in the two housing estates on the eve of Malaysia Day by staffers of Mukah Division Health Department (MDHD).
On Malaysia Day, a mass spring cleaning (gotong-royong) of the housing areas like collecting rubbish at Lane 2 and 4 of Jalan Desa Merpati, Mukah were held.
Prior to the gotong-royong, a talk on dengue conducted by MDHD was held in the house compound of a member of KRTKSHL, Jol Bin Una, at 8am which was followed by the collecting of rubbish along the lanes and other activities which also saw the participation of MDHD staffers.
The morning event ended with refreshment for the participants at 11am and a brief speech by KRT KSHL Chairwoman, Jennifer Amir, who thanked MDHD staffers for their participation.
She hoped that it would be a stepping stone for the continued cooperation in organising the relevant community-based activities in the future.
Indeed the Health Department has never failed the committee by participating in a number of health-related activities organised by KRTKSHL in the last few years, like free health screening and blood donation campaign.
Meanwhile, the evening drizzle failed to deter members of the KRT to proceed with the ‘Malaysia Day Barbeque’ which commenced at 6pm.
The evening was made merrier with Karaoke singing and poco-poco dancing involving those present.
Also present were former chairman of the KRT committee, Haji Sidu B Maun, Vice-Chairman, Haji Abdul Rahman, Secretary, Normawati Haji Rahmat, and the Ex-co members.
