Shift to e-commerce, conventional entrepreneurs told

KUCHING: Local entrepreneurs, who are still using conventional methods, have been urged to adopt e-commerce to market their products.

Syarikat Timogah founder Heineken Laluan said the demand for food delivery services had increased throughout the country.

“That led me to establish an online marketplace– Timogah–which serves as a platform for traditional and modern farmers, sellers and local entrepreneurs to market their products.”

He was speaking at the ‘Sembang Digital Norma Baru’ programme on Sarawak FM organised by Sarawak Multimedia Authority  in collaboration with Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (Azam Sarawak) on Friday (Sept 25).

He added that continuous efforts must be made to educate target groups namely, the rural farming community, small and medium sellers, as well as local product entrepreneurs, so that they adapt to the new norm of digitalisation.

Heineken, who is also one of the final nominees listed in the Shell LiveWIRE Global Top Ten Innovators Award 2020, said his mission was to educate conventional businesses to use digital platforms, including Timogah, to market their products.
