MIRI: Two men believed to be involved in a cable theft at a school in Lutong here last Saturday (Sept 26) were nabbed.
Both men, aged 23 and 26, were arrested in an operation dubbed Ops Lusuh by a team of personnel of Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) last Monday (Sept 28).
Miri district deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the men were detained in two separate locations at a village and Lutong market at 11.30pm and 11.55pm respectively.
“During interrogation, both men admitted to being involved in the selling of electrical cables that was stolen by two of their friends, who are still at large.
“Besides that, they also admitted to be involved in substance abuse,” he said in a statement.
He noted that the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.
It was reported earlier that electrical cables to a building, which is still under construction, at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Lutong were stolen with an estimated loss of RM12,000.
