MIRI: A 34-year-old man died from electrocution while harvesting coconuts near an orchard at Kampung Pujut Padang Kerbau here around 12pm last Tuesday (Sept 29).

According to the police, an alloy pole, used by the victim to harvest the coconuts, had accidently touched a utility power cable, which is about 10 to 13 metres from the coconut tree.

The victim, identified as Syamsul Mohamad Yashin, was killed instantly.

Meanwhile, a friend of the deceased, who was with him during the incident, sustained bodily injuries and was rushed to Miri Hospital for treatment.
