KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 cases today, with the total number of positive cases in the state thus far remaining at 713.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that there were no recovery and discharged cases from hospitals today.

“With this, the total number of recovery and discharged cases to date remains at 682 or 95.65 percent,” he said at the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Covid-19 update press conference today.

He said 12 cases are still being treated at hospitals in the state — six at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) isolation ward, Miri Hospital (five), and Bintulu Hospital (one).

He added that there were no cases undergoing treatment at intensive care units (ICUs) today.

“No new deaths have been reported today, leaving the total number of deaths at 19 or 2.66 percent,” he said.

Uggah, who is also SDMC chairman, said that 12 new persons-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and one is awaiting laboratory results.

He said that 59 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) were checked into hotels today to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 12 hotels to 870, while 24,729 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

He also said that Kuching and Lawas are still yellow zones, whereby Lawas still has three local transmission cases and Kuching has one reported in the last 14 days.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) issued two compound notices today for non-compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) — one each in Betong and Sarikei.

The Ministry of Local Government and Housing on the other hand issued 123 verbal, written and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

In Ops Benteng, a total of 2,098 vehicles were inspected at six roadblocks in five districts — two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
