FIRST STATE-OWNED TV SATION

KUCHING: The very first state-owned television station, TVSarawak (TVS) is another outstanding achievement of the state government.
For a start, it will show part of the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s 84th birthday celebration to be hosted by Kuching City from Oct 9 to 11.
The five segments of the celebration would be carried out in the new norm, starting with a thanksgiving prayer on Oct 9 at Masjid India Bandar Kuching.
On the morning of Oct 10, Taib will inspect a guard of honour at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) premises, and then on the night of Oct 11, the TV station will be officially launched.
As announced recently, TVS will provide free-to-air channel, online publishing and information provisioning services. The public can access it on Astro, Channel 122.
Several people were approached for their responses to the state’s only TV station and to share their expectations.
Many praised the state government for its role in setting up the station appears to be well-received Sarawakians who hope the government would use the platform to nurture the state’s multi-racial society.
