KUCHING: The Kuching Waterfront gets an image boost in time for the inaugural Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival with the recent completion of the new mural behind Grand Margherita Hotel.
On hand to paint the final brush stroke for the launching ceremony was Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin bin Haji Abdul Rahman. Also present were Jason Brooke, director of Brooke Trust and Alan Poh, general manager of Sara Urusharta Sdn Bhd.
The mural painting is a component of the Kuching Waterfront with the project being collaboratively undertaken by the Kuching Waterfront Management and the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).
The project includes painting of a 22m long mural and a mini bazaar where art pieces produced by Unimas students will be offered for sale.
It was carried out by 40 students of the faculty led by lecturer Mohamad Faizuan Mat.
“With the inaugural Kuching Waterfront Jazz to be held here, we hope this new mural will be another physical attraction to draw visitors.
“It will also provide visitors with photo taking opportunities as a side activity,” said Alan Poh.
