BARAM: Two primary schools here continued on with their school sessions despite rising water levels following heavy downpour from yesterday (Oct 4).
According to the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Baram district education office (PPD) reported today (Oct 5) that the schools operating at full capacity are SK Long Panai and SK Long Laput.
As of 6am, there are 32 students, seven teachers, four school staff family members, and two implementing group members (anggota kumpulan pelaksana) in SK Long Panai.
It was told that the water levels at SK Long Panai area are slowly rising as it was drizzling in the morning.
Whereas in SK Long Laput, there are 116 students, 11 teachers, nine school staff family members, and nine implementing group members (anggota kumpulan pelaksana).
As of 7.23am, floodwaters have started to rise on the school grounds as a result of rain since Sunday.
So far, the schools have not yet turned into a flood temporary evacuation centre as the situation is under control.
