Woman in pharmacy incident fined RM1,000

SIBU: A woman suffered the consequence of not wearing a face mask when she was slapped with a RM1,000 compound for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedure guidelines.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said a video went viral on social media showing the woman shouting at a pharmacy staff when she was asked to wear a face mask. The woman could be heard hurling obscenities at the staff.

The incident happened around 4.20pm on Oct 4 at a pharmacy in Jalan Kampung Nyabor here.

“Based on the video, we conducted an investigation on Monday (Oct 5) that led to the arrest of the 48-year-old woman around 2.30pm.

“From our investigation, she claimed that she was upset when the pharmacy staff called her ‘auntie’ when asked to wear a face mask,” ACP Stanley said in a statement.

The woman also claimed that she had insomnia.

ACP Stanley added that during investigation, the woman would suddenly raise her voice and also laughed by herself.

“She does not have any criminal record but has previously lodged numerous reports on quarreling and fighting.”
