SERIAN: “Ali Baba contractors … will be blacklisted from Sarawak government projects, stressed Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

According to him, the practice involves contractors who sub-contract their contracts to other companies, to make easy profits through commissions.

“To the contractors, I strictly call on all of you to carry out the work entrusted to you responsibly, namely if you succeed in getting a contract, do not sub-contract or hand over or rent it to others.

“Instead, you can collaborate with other contractors in implementing various government projects.

“Many sub-contractors to large companies have proven to be successful without the need to sub-contract their contracts to other companies,” he said when officiating at the Symposium for Contractors at the Roxy Hotel here, yesterday.

On another note, Awang Tengah, who is also  International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Minister, said as of September 30 this year, his ministry had approved grants and loans to contractors including small and medium enterprises (SMEs) under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS).
