KUCHING: A multi-agency Covid-19 operation carried out at several construction sites within the vicinity of the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) last Thursday (Oct 15) led to the arrest of 25 illegal immigrants.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) stated that the operation took place around 3pm after two illegal immigrants earlier tested positive for Covid-19.
“All the workers were swabbed and quarantined. The committee and its agencies acted quickly to investigate and check the premises to contain the situation.
“Those who break the law and defy the standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be investigated,” SDMC said.
The operation involved 150 personnel from SDMC, State Health Department, police, Immigration Department and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).
