KUCHING: The ‘Borneo From Above’ programme on TVS has received praise from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari was attracted by the show, aired on Astro Channel 122, which featured the panoramic view of Sarawak taken from a drone.
He noted that through the programme, people, including those from outside Sarawak, would be able to see and know the state better.
The programme, to a certain extent, could also help promote Sarawak’s tourism abroad, he added, at the closing ceremony of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) annual delegates conference and special convention at the SUPP headquarters here last Sunday (Oct 18).
Borneo From Above director and publisher Muiz Hilmi, when contacted for his comments, said: “I’m grateful that the intended message of the programme reaches the audience.”
“It is meant to show to the people the level of progress achieved in every district in the state, including other parts of Borneo. It also aims to show the inter-racial harmony enjoyed by the people living in the area featured.”
According to Muiz, the programme was also to show to the people that the state government had carried out its promises to the people.
Befitting its name, he said about 80 per cent of filming was done from the air.
The premier episode featured Serian District, about 61km from here.
Borneo From Above will have a total of 13 episodes.
Muiz said the next episodes would feature the state’s rural areas such as Belaga and Kanowit.
