MIRI: Twenty individuals were fined RM1,000 each during a raid, dubbed Ops Noda/Cantas/RMCO, for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) enforced during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) last Friday (Oct 23) and Saturday (Oct 24).

The individuals were fined at several locations during the operation carried out at entertainment outlets throughout the city from 10pm (Oct 23) to 12am (Oct 24).

The compounds were issued on the spot after these individuals failed to observe physical distancing and did not wear face masks in public places.

They were found to have violated the Covid-19 SOPs and guidelines under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said the police will continue with such operations and monitoring to ensure businesses and patrons adhere to all rules and regulations.

“Abide by the SOPs during the RMCO at all times,” he said.
