KUCHING: All taska (nurseries) and tadika (kindergartens) in Kuching District will also be closed from tomorrow until Nov 13, said Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
This was because of the rising number of Covid-19 cases and the declaration of Kuching Disttrict as declared a Covid-19 red zone recently.
The Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister said this decision was made following a consultation with Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also chairman of the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
“The Deputy Chief Minister/SDMC chairman will make an official announcement during the press conference later on,” she said in a statement today.
According to her, there are 91 taska in Kuching, involving 1,638 children and 345 teachers. As for tadika she said there were 676 in Kuching with 13,293 children and 1,392 teachers.
The Ministry of National Unity also released a statement today, announcing the closure of Tabika Perpaduan (TP) and Taska Genius Perpaduan (TGP) in Kuching from tomorrow until Nov 13.
The ministry said this directive would involve the closure of 43 tabika (children’s preschools) and one TGP as well as 830 children and 92 educators.
National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique reminded all the ministry’s machinery in red zones to comply with the health protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Health Ministry (MoH) and National Security Council (MKN), as well as the state governments’ directives.
