KUCHING: It is only in Sarawak that people-centric projects such as the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares) are implemented as a result of the strategic planning and prudent spending by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government.
“Our state government is doing all it can to serve the rural communities,” added Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau at the earth-breaking and thanksgiving prayer ceremony for the Long Apu, Baram Sares project on Tuesday.
“With the efforts of our GPS state government under the able leadership of our Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, the rural constituency of Telang Usan will be able to enjoy 24-hour electricity,” he said.
The function was officiated by Baram MP Anyi Ngau and attended by about 200 people.
Dennis pointed out that the state government had spent huge sums to deliver much-needed facilities to the people.
He also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the Utilities Ministry under the leadership of Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom for doubling up efforts in implementing electricity projects in Telang Usan.
He advised his constituents to take good care of the systems in their longhouses.
Dennis added that Abang Johari had rolled out over 80 initiatives for the benefit of Sarawakians. since his appointment as Chief Minister in early 2017.
“Abang Johari is a great leader and very visionary. He continued his predecessor’s good policies while introducing his own initiatives as well,” he said.
Long Apu has 167 doors and a population of over 1,800.
