KUCHING: The federal Budget 2021 will be able to help the people in dealing with the impact of Covid-19, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He thanked the federal government and expressed his satisfaction with the budget which also provided an allocation of RM4.5 billion to Sarawak.

“I thank the federal government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for tabling a thorough and fair budget which will be able to help the people affected by Covid-19.

“I also thank them for the RM4.5 billion allocation for Sarawak that will be used for infrastructure development and perimeter survey for native customary rights (NCR) land.”

He said this to reporters after attending the 32nd Kenyalang Journalism Awards ceremony held at a hotel here on Friday night.

On Friday, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz announced the 2021 budget in the Dewan Rakyat totalling RM322.5 billion which mainly focused on aiding the government’s continuous efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic and help ease the burden of the people affected by it.
