THE STATE government has no plan to develop another football field in Kapit.

Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan said the existing football field at the Kapit Outdoor Stadium would be utilised after it had been upgraded.

“The upgrading work is expected to be completed next month.

“Currently, the upgrading work is still under progress,” he said when replying to Jefferson Jamit Unyat (PBB-Bukit Goram) during the Q&A session at the DUN sitting today.

Touching on the development of football in the state, Snowdan said the ministry planned to set up more development centres and Excellent centres to carry out the Football Development Programme to scout more local talents from a very young age across the state.

“Currently, we have two Rural Youth Football Development Centres, one in Kapit and another in Song.

“Development of rural areas will pave way for children to develop their football skills and talents,” he added.
