Man fined RM1,000 for theft of properties

KUCHING: A local man was fined RM1,000 in default three months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to theft of properties from the office of Sarawak Media Group Sdn Bhd today.

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi ordered Mohd Zulfiqar Zailan of Taman Satria Jaya to pay a fine after he pleaded guilty to Section 414 of the Penal Code.

Mohd Zulfiqar, 26, admitted he was in the process of disposing of a stolen black Yamaha speaker at 12.44pm at Milan Square here on November 13.

His accomplice Izwan Shamizi Abdul Kadir, who pleaded not guilty to the same charge, was released on a RM3,000 bail with a surety pending further mention of the case on November 30.

In his police report, the complainant Jahar Zaidel said he discovered various items missing from his office at Sarawak Media Group Sdn Bhd.

A quick check through the CCTV footage showed one of the employees, identified as Izwan Shamizi Abdul Kadir, and an unknown accomplice were responsible for the theft of the stolen
properties.

The properties included two units of black Philips computer monitors, a unit of white Murphy
Richards dehumidifier, a 40-inch black Samsung television set, a unit of black intercom system, a unit of DJI Mavic A drone and three units of Yamaha HSE loudspeakers.

The accused was arrested at 12.44pm near Milan Square on Nov 13 when he was about to dispose of a loudspeaker set.

The accused paid the fine.
