MUKAH: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs paid tribute to the local media at an appreciation dinner it hosted for them at a leading hotel here on Tuesday (Nov 17).
The informal but meaningful event, believed to be the first of its kind organised for the local media, was officiated by Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir.
The objective of the dinner was to thank the media for helping the ministry to diseminate consumer issues and news on the functions and role of the ministry.
It was also to thank members of Gerakan Pengguna Bahagian (GPB), who were appointed in 2019, as well as the contributors of the Food Bank Siswa programme.
The event, themed “Floral Denim”, also aimed to enhance ties between the ministry and local media as well as GPB Mukah.
In appreciation of their contribution and cooperation, the ministry also presented the local media with certificates and plaques which were handed over by Hamdiah.
She also handed over certificates of appreciation to members of GPB 2019, and contributors of the Food Bank Siswa programme.
Karaoke singing, lucky draws and the selection of the Man and Lady of the Night enlivened the event.
Utusan Borneo reporter Mohd Achill Norrlatep and Mukah District education officer Salemah Chali was announced as the Man and Lady of the Night respectively.
The ministry’s Empowerment and Consumerism Section head Mohammad Dzulkiflie Pathi, the ministry’s Mukah branch chief Salihin Den and heads of departments and agencies were among those who attended the event.
