KUCHING: A total of 17 village security and development committees (JKKKs) in Satok constituency have received grants from the government.

PBB Satok deputy chairman Datuk Ibrahim Baki handed out the grants on behalf of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who is also Satok assemblyman and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok branch chairman.

Also present during the handover on Thursday were a political secretary to the chief minister Abdul Samad Gany and PBB Satok vice chief Helmi Othman.

The grant presentation ceremony was conducted in full compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

The grants were part of the initiative to empower JKKKs and help them fulfil their responsibilities amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was also hoped that the grants would allow them to perform their duties more efficiently.
