KOTA SAMARAHAN: UiTM Sarawak held its first online ‘Borneo Islamic International Conference 2020 (KAIB Online 2020)’ from 8am to 5pm today.

Its Rector Prof Datuk Dr Jamil Hamali officiated at the virtual conference which featured several speakers from Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, China, Taiwan and Spain via Zoom.

Jointly organised with several universities in Borneo, the conference discussed the opportunities and challenges post-Covid-19 pandemic in the world’s halal industry.

“The conference is a platform for local and international participants from both academic and industrial sectors to highlight the emerging issues and matters related to halal development as well issues related to Islamic development,” it said in its press statement on Tuesday (Dec 1).

Apart from collecting material, work and scientific research related to the development of Islam, the online conference was also to promote the 13th International Conference of Islamic Borneo, which will be held in Sarawak next year.
