KUCHING: Three churches in Batu Kawah constituency have received grants from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).

The churches that received the grants are Zhu En Church, St Mark’s Church and St Basil Church.

Local Government and Housing Minister who is Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian handed over the Unifor cheques to the respective churches.

“Unifor was initiated by late chief minister Tok Nan (Pehin Sri Adenan Satem), and this initiative is continued by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added in 2017, the Sarawak government had started allocating RM10 million in grants to Unifor, and had increased the allocation over the years.

“The grants had increased to RM20 million in 2018, to RM30 million last year and this year RM50 million,” he said.
