BINTULU: The search for a 61 year-old man who is believed to have drowned after a car he was in, plunged into Sungai Kemena on November 30 , entered Day 10 today, with no clue of the victim.
The search and rescue (SAR) personnel comprising Fire and Rescue Department Water Rescue Unit (PPDA) divers together with Marine Police arrived at Sebauh JKR wharf around 6.30am yesterday and began searching an area 150 metres away from the Sungai Kemena river mouth.
At 2.30pm the SAR operation was called off after rescuers found no clue on the missing man.
The spot where the car reportedly plunged into the water was also searched using a 3D sonar.
On the night of November 30, the Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call around 8pm by members of the public that a car had gone out of control and plunged from the JKR wharf into the Kemena River.
A SAR operation was immediately activated to search for the victim which has since been fruitless.
