KUCHING: The district of Kuching has now been categorised as a green zone.

This came after no locally transmitted cases of Covid-19 were detected or reported here in the past 14 days.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today (Dec 15) said Serian district remained as a yellow zone with two locally transmitted cases reported in the last 14 days.

“This brings the total number of districts with yellow zone status to one district, and 38 other districts in Sarawak remain as green zones,” it said.

On another note, Sarawak recorded no new Covid-19 cases today (Dec 15), maintaining the tally of positive cases at 1,075.

As of today (Dec 15), there is only one active cluster in Sarawak — the Besi Cluster in Kuching — with positive cases remaining at 12 including index cases.

The committee also reported that there is no new recovery and discharged cases, maintaining the tally at 1,045 or 97.21 percent.

Eleven cases are still receiving treatments at hospitals — nine at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), and one each at Miri Hospital and Bintulu Hospital.

On the other hand, 20 new person under investigation (PUI) cases were reported with 20 awaiting lab test results.

SDMC also informed that 444 new persons under surveillance (PUS) had checked into quarantine centres.

“This brings the current total number of PUS at 40 hotels and non-hotel quarantine centres statewide to 4,647 while 39,694 have completed their quarantine period,” the committee said.
