KUCHING: Sarawak recorded one new Covid-19 case in Kuching, bringing the tally of positive cases to 1,085.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) explained that Case 1,085 is a local man who returned from Sabah — a high-risk area.

The case entered Sarawak through Kuching International Airport (KIA) on Dec 7 and underwent mandatory quarantine in a hotel in the city.

“The case was swabbed on the same day (Dec 7) and results came back negative. The case underwent a second swab test on Dec 16 and was found positive.

“The case did not show any signs or symptoms, and was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” the committee said adding that contact tracing is in full swing.

On the case of four Indonesian women who went back to Indonesia after they were tested positive for Covid-19 in Sibu, CCTV footage in Jalan Pahlawan Bus Terminal found that the women were suspected to have boarded a bus with the registration number QSX 6722 belonging to Syarikat Sungai Merah on Dec 17 at about 12.50am.
