MIRI: Residents in Beluru have been reminded to always think rationally before posting anything on social media platforms.

Local Government Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said people must also maintain good manners on social media.

“I also want to advise everyone to be wary of the slanders that are becoming more prevalent in social media nowadays,” he said.

He said this in a Facebook post last Sunday (Dec 27), after attending the Christmas and New Year 2021 celebration organised by the Beluru Village Chiefs Association at Beluru Community Hall.

Penguang also called upon all the village chiefs to always communicate with their respective residents to ensure that the information from the government reaches the residents, and vice versa.

The Marudi assemblyman also took the opportunity to present the achievements and status of implementation of infrastructure projects in Marudi area, which included basic infrastructure projects, social, upgrading dilapidated schools, houses of worship and others.

“I hope everyone is patient because these projects are and will be implemented by the government agencies,” he said.

Later at the event, he also handed over the appointment letters to 14 village chiefs (ketua kamu) in Beluru district.

A political secretary to the chief minister Alexander Asing and Marudi District Council chairman Edward Mendai were among those present.
