KUCHING: Firefighters in the state might have had a less hectic year end, but still they were always prepared for any eventuality.
Bomba personnel were summoned to put out a car fire along Jalan Riih Mongkos, Serian at 8.25pm yesterday (Dec 31).
Firemen from the Serian fire station were despatched to the scene and they quickly extinguished the flames which apparently started in the engine compartment
The driver and a passenger managed to escape safety.
And in Sibu, a gas cylinder tank caught fire in a house at Jalan Ulu Oya around 8pm.
Firemen from the Sibu fire station rushed to the scene and found the hose of the cooking gas tank on fire. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the building.
The minor fire was quickly put out and the firemen brought the gas tank out of the house.
