MIRI: There are two potential tourist attractions at Tusan Beach, Bekenu — a structure resembling a small baby horse head drinking water from the sea and a lion’s head.
Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting has urged the relevant authorities to visit the beach immediately and take adequate steps to protect and preserve these two structures.
“Erosion is serious. We do not want to lose them to the sea,” he added.
Earlier today, Ting, accompanied by several friends, visited the beach located about 45km from Miri City.
“Recently, our local newspapers reported these new interesting discoveries at Tusan Beach. So, my friends and I decided to go to the beach to look at them,” he explained.
“At 5.05am, my friend picked me from my house and we went to Mosjaya to join another friend for a cup of coffee and a vegetable pau. We began our journey to Tusan Beach at 5.40am.
“The drive was smooth as there were few vehicles on the road then. We arrived at our destination at 6.25am.
“We saw the sign “Pantai Tusan” displayed at the top of a nearly completed building.”
Ting and his friends found the lion’s head, a structure which resembled the head of a lion, from a distance.
“Some structures collapsed and then came new structures. We also found a structure that resembled a small baby horse head drinking water from the sea,” he said.
